This thesis examines the previously unstudied Precedence-Constrained Quadratic Knapsack Problem (PC-QKP), an NP-hard nonlinear combinatorial optimization problem. It develops both exact and approximate solution methods, including custom heuristics and metaheuristics, and tests them on a wide range of structured problem instances to identify the factors that influence problem difficulty.
